A 19th century large open-plan corner retail space, with iron girders and columns, was converted into a gourmet pizza restaurant. The project was an opportunity to design furniture, lighting and interior wall finishes. There was also a thematic linking the name л to a pizza pie, the pizza to a circle, the form of the Greek letter to a trabeated structure – the lateral translations were infinite.

Great care was taken in the fabrication of the elements – seats and furniture [see Cut-Out furniture page] were made of coloured vinyl and folded aluminium sheet, walls were back-lit perforated panels, or continental-style plaster blocks, imported for the first time to Ireland. Glass was coloured with hand-tinted interlayers and every detail of the lighting, finishes and hardware was designed to reflect the theme.
