This project to replace the existing kiosk at the traffic island in Ballsbridge caters for a small sandwich and coffee bar, serving the local office workers at lunchtime. The island itself is redesigned, removing the existing grass patch to provide hard landscape with benches for sitting and eating lunch.
The “landscape” design of pavement, raised flower beds, benches and street furniture is generated by the triangular shape of the island. The kiosk and flower beds create a defensive border against the heavy traffic on one side, while the other, quieter edges are opened up to pedestrians.
